As the due date approaches, we are working out our schedule's so that we can meet as much as we need to so that we can collect our materials and conduct our experiment.

Update week of 11/5/2009

SO we had to change our project for legal reasons (apparently making ethanol is illegal). We are still going to measure heat that is given off by biomass plants like the switch grass and use a calorimeter. I had no idea how to use a calorimeter so I had to look that up and we are making plans to meet soon and work on a large portion of the project.

Update 10/23/09

After the field trip to NREL we got some ideas about what type of biomass to use such as switch grass and alfalfa. We still have not met, and because of the situation with this week nothing has been worked on.

Weekly Update 10/01

We have yet to meet as a group and any individual work done has not been shared with other members. Hopefully we will meet soon to work on the project and become more sure of exactly what we are doing for the project.

Weekly Update 9/24

The group has yet to completly solve all of the personal issues, but it is getting better. Much research and refining of the topic (i.e. how to carry out the experiment) still need to be done but hopefully this will happen soon :) This weekend I will speak to one of the other members of the group about research and what should be done to get the project off the ground.

Weekly update 9/16

So work on the project has pretty much come to a standstill and nothing has been even talked about. This lack of work is just due to personal issues between some members in the group. Eventually stuff will be worked on, but for now no new developments have been made...

Topic

Basically I really don't like this topic at all so sadpanda about that. But any way I must make do... after much "conversation" and few good ideas we decided to do an experiment with biomass. We are going to test different plants and see which ones release the most heat energy. Not really sure how it will work but I think it can be figured out because there are some smart people in the group. =]
